The Cedars
West Barnstable, Massachusetts
Once
used as farmland, this sanctuary contains over 9 acres of
fields and undeveloped natural woodlands in West Barnstable.
As its name indicates, the land is dominated by red cedar
that covers more than 50 percent of the property in both strips
and thick stands. There are also two large wetland areas that
are loosely ringed by mature red maples draped with great
masses of poison ivy, grape and briar vines. These wetlands
hold water most of the year and are influenced by the tides
of the salt marsh that borders the property.
